Mountainside  opened  on  February  26,  1998  and  set  course on a new direction in the treatment of substance abuse  and  addiction, with a program designed to provide the individual with the guidance and support necessary to begin the journey of self-recovery.

Our Mission: To help people discover their innate ability to heal themselves in:
MIND - BODY and SPIRIT

We  are  challenging the industry acceptance that success rates following treatment  can be  no  better  than  5%  to 15% for people staying clean and sober. Our innovative program offers components such as 12-Step Education and  Meetings;  the  Therapeutic  Challenge  Course;  a  Low  Ropes Course; Yoga;  Gender-Specific  Groups;  Family  Sessions;  Drama,  Art  &  Music Therapy;   Individual   and   Group   Therapy,   Nicotine   Program,   Relapse Prevention;  Task-Focused  Assignments;  and  Leisure  Time  Activities.

Our dedicated  Program  Team  brings  to  Mountainside  a  wide  variety  of experience in alcoholism and drug counseling, outdoor wilderness, adventure education, yoga, meditation, and drama, music and art therapy. We strive to awaken within  the  individual the desire to not want to use any mood-altering substance  and   to  effect  a  change in lifestyle  to  enhance the continuing journey in the healing of Mind, Body and Spirit.

Mountainside’s  innovative  program  is  winning  widespread acclaim. Having committed   ourselves   to   improving  the  abysmal  rates  of  recovery,  and challenging the conventional  wisdom  that success rates following treatment can be no better than 5% to 15% for people staying clean and sober, already we  are  seeing  dramatically  improved  results.  Mountainside  has  hosted professionals and counselors from other treatment centers on a regular basis. They come here to learn what it is that we are doing and how we are doing it. Mountainside dares to be different; we have incorporated many innovative and special components in our program.
